Having The Courage to Ask For What You REALLY Want

Just a couple of weeks ago I shared with you my celebration about my diamond bracelet. Well guess what?

I sent it back.

I really did. After wearing it, I realized that this diamond bracelet wasn’t MY diamond bracelet.  So I returned it.

And I felt horrible about it. I felt guilty. I felt sad. I felt all kinds of things I didn’t want to feel about it.  And I tapped on all of those feelings and worked through them.

After I made the decision, I felt relief.

You see, what really clinched it for me was this question:

Does it make you light up
when you see it?

Do you LOVE it?

And the answer was no.  I liked it, I really did. I liked it a lot. But I didn’t LOVE it.  And I wanted to LOVE it.

It didn’t take my breath away.  And I want it to do that.  And that one question clarified my decision.

How did I get that distinction?

Just before I bought the bracelet, I had also bought a ring made of diamonds surrounding a beautiful amethyst. The ring represents my business as a beautiful piece of jewelry. The colors, the design, the fit – everything. It looks like a glorious explosion of happiness and beauty on my finger!

It takes my breath away every time I look at it.

And that distinction – that awareness – helped me understand how I felt about the bracelet.

You see, as we manifest what we want in our lives and in our business, we get what we have asked for (in this case I had asked for a big-assed diamond bracelet, as I lovingly have called it over the years).

And when we get what we’ve asked for, we then get new distinctions – new awarenesses – and those distinctions allow us to tweak our dream with more clarity.

You see, in your business, you first just want clients. You want them to come in and work with you. But as you grow, you begin to get more clarity about the type of clients you really like working with. And that awareness grows the more you work with people.  (By the way, this analogy also works for team members, or software systems, or well, anything.)

But it takes courage to say no to what you don’t want. Because to do that it means that…

You are standing in faith that you will be able to create what you really want.

You may feel guilty, or sad, or horrible saying no to someone or something.

But the Universe wants you to be clear about who and what you want.

So it can deliver it to you.

So, Divine One, what do you want to create? And what are you tolerating right now that you want to let go of so that you can have what you really want?

Until tomorrow…
