I really want to start offering programs to my clients.  I love what I do and my clients really get a lot of value from our sessions together. 

The challenge is that I don’t have a whole lot of clients and when I do offer workshops, they are either sparsely attended or I end up cancelling them, which frustrates me and makes me want to give up. 

How do I get to the point where I am successfully offering programs to my clients and people actually show up for them?

Dear Divine One:

I love this question!  I hear it frequently from spiritual entrepreneurs.  Why?  Because so many of them see other people offering classes and they see people attending those classes and then wonder what is wrong with them that they can’t get people to attend theirs.

Here’s the truth:

There’s nothing wrong with you.

What you may need, however, is the following: 

• training in how to message your work. 
• training on how to market strategically.
• training on how to hold a sales conversation with a potential client.  

Many spiritual entrepreneurs want to leverage their time and energy by holding workshops.  And it’s a very good idea.  But whether it’s the right time for you to do workshops is another question altogether.

Building your business is like building anything.  You have to build the foundation first. 

For example, here is a picture of the beginning stages of a garden I created in 2001.  What was the first part?  Learning about gardening.  Then preparing the soil.  Then planting the plants. (And celebrating with my daughter.)  It took several years for plants to grow and mature.  Just like your business.

During the first several years of building your business, your job is to: 

• get very, very clear about the work you do, the transformation you offer, and the benefits your clients get from working with you. 
• learn how to market your business more effectively,
• learn how to have successful sales conversations, and
• get your income stable enough so that you can then leverage your time by offering workshops. You do this through developing your skills as you work with your clients one-on-one. 

But you don’t do workshops and teleseminar programs until your income is stable.  You don’t do them until you have enough clients. 

Because the amount of time and energy it takes to fill a workshop is greater than the amount of time and energy it takes to find another client.

But the real reason is this:  if you are struggling financially in your business and if you struggle in your sales conversations with your prospects, then one of two things is going on: 

1) either you are not very good at what you do (which I seriously doubt), or

2) you haven’t learned yet how to speak about what you do in a way that causes people to understand it and to want it. 

The latter is the far more likely scenario. 

Trying to fill a workshop before you have enough clients and stable income is like trying to put the cart before the horse and then expecting the cart to move.  It ain’t gonna happen. 

For now, let go of the idea of workshops and instead focus on building your list of clients.  Have those sales calls – you know, the ones where you have a fabulous conversation with a delightful new prospect and then they say yes to working with you.  

Don’t try to wiggle away from having sales calls just because you’re scared, or because they are difficult.  

Learn how to make them undifficult.  Learn how to have them with ease. 

The only way to do that is to … well, uh …

Just. Do. It. 

If you don’t learn how to be successful at selling yourself, you will always have the challenge of getting people to your workshops and getting them to work with you.  So start with building up your private client base first, sell them, and then sell your workshops. 

Selling is fun, intimate, and very, very sacred – not sleazy.  Your business depends on you to learn how to experience that as your truth. 

The sooner you do this, the quicker you will be able to offer those workshops again.  And fill them!

I really want to learn how to attract more clients.  And better clients! 

My income goes up and down depending on what’s happening in my business and how much marketing I’m doing.

Sometimes, I feel very overwhelmed, because I know I’m not doing enough marketing. 

How do I get better clients (and more of them) and not be so overwhelmed while doing it? Help!

Dear Divine One -

This is such a challenge for so many spiritual entrepreneurs. They are so gifted and make such a difference in the lives of their clients, but their clients don’t seem to fully realize the transformations they’ve experienced … or they don’t stay long enough with you to understand what has happened to them because of your work together.

The thing is, when it comes to working with your clients, you have to understand that you have to train them. 

Seriously. 

• Part of working with someone is helping them understand the power of your work.
• Part of working with someone is helping them understand the transformations they’ve received.
• Part of working with someone is helping them to see what you see.

It is unfair to them if you don’t share with them what you see they have received.  Not only is it unfair, it’s downright stingy.

Because they need to understand how your work is helping them.  If you don’t get that across to them, then they won’t fully see their results. 

And if they don’t see their results, they won’t continue to come in to see you and do the work with you.

And if they don’t continue to come in to see you, they won’t get the bigger transformation that they ache to get – the one they came to you for to begin with.

You see, it’s all about you standing up powerfully and claiming ownership of your incredible work. 

(Babe, if you won’t do that, then who will?)

When you claim ownership of your work and your gifts, your clients feel more secure with you. 

They understand the value you bring to them.  And they honor and respect it more deeply.

But…

You have to own your work. 

You have to own your gifts. 

You have to own your power.

Here are some actual steps to take that will help you do this. (This is especially true if you’re an energy therapist or healer.)

• When your client comes in for their appointment, do an assessment of where they are, emotionally and physically.
• Before they leave after your session, revisit that assessment and see what has changed.
• Help them see the results of your session with them in their lives by telling them what to look for in their lives/bodies/relationships/business after they leave you, and before the next time you see them.
• Make an appointment for the next time (or have this already systematized).
• When they come in the next time, review the assessment with them from the previous session (briefly) and do a new assessment.

Rinse and repeat.

It is up to you to help them understand the effect your work has on them. 

Because if you don’t, they won’t get it and they won’t come back.

By the way, your income will increase dramatically if you implement this one thing. 

And when you are ready to leverage your time even further, get better clients, and create even more consistent income, then it’s time to get some training on how to Create Your Divine Offer.

I feel really stuck.  I’m really afraid if I make a move in my business, I’ll make the wrong move and it will cost me time and money.  So I don’t do anything! 

But this doesn’t work either, because well, I’m not doing anything!  I want a straight and clear path that I can take to build my business. Help!

Dear Divine One -

If only.  I hate to tell you this, but there are no straight lines to building your business.  (sorry)

I wish there were.  Because if there were, then everyone would have immediate and sustained success and we would all have incredible businesses, right?

Actually, the biggest challenge I’m hearing you say is this:  you don’t trust yourself enough to take action.  Any action. 

Remember when your children were little?  And they were learning how to walk?  They didn’t have to know how to walk.  They couldn’t know.  They hadn’t done it before, right?  But did it stop them from trying?  Did it stop them from bumping into things and falling down and getting back up and trying again?

Of course not.  But somehow, when we grow up, we think that we have to know how to do everything and that we can’t fall down and make mistakes.  Or bump our knees.  Or our heads a little.

Building a business is all about doing.  It’s all about trying something out and then editing as you go.  About learning what works and what doesn’t.  Because you aren’t going to know until you try.

Think about riding a bicycle for a moment.  You can look at the bike, you can touch the bike, you can sit on the bike, and you can imagine yourself riding the bike.  You can even read all about what it feels like to ride a bike.

But how will you ever understand HOW to balance yourself unless you get on the bike and learn what balance feels like?

You won’t.

• The same with building a business. 
• The same with marketing yourself. 
• The same with having a sales conversation. 
• The same with serving your clients.

You won’t know how to do any of these things until you do them and do them clumsily. 

Don’t worry.  You’ll get better at it.

But only if you DO them.

The road to building a business is a very winding one, with lots of turns and hidden entries, with delight around most corners. 

But the only way to see the delightful surprises is to Go.  Do.  And experience.

Building a thriving business is a process – a process that begins with understanding the various pieces that make a successful business and then developing the skills within yourself to be able to put those pieces into place. 

Pieces like:

• Your Brand
• Your Offer
• Your Message
• Your Marketing Strategy
• Your Sales
• Your Systems
• Your Team … and so on.

And that doesn’t even include your mindset – your confidence – or how you present yourself and your business to the world.

So what’s a Spiritual Entrepreneur to do?

Well, the first thing is this:

Get help.

 
Get help from someone who has been there, done that, and who understands not only the pieces that you need to put into place, but also understands how to help you put those pieces into place in your own business (and in your mind).

Then, put into place an action plan to get in front of your perfect, ideal clients.  Select from the following options, and start NOW:

1)    Put yourself out there.  Speak in front of your target market on a regular basis.

2)    Go to events that have people in your target market to network and then…

3)    Follow up with everyone.

4)    Create a monthly teleseminar or meet-up (or both!) to connect with your people;

5)    Put into place a solid social media program – connect online.

6)    Learn to speak about your business in a results- or benefits-driven way instead of talking about the process you take your clients through. (Here’s a hint: they don’t care about the process.  They just want the result!)

7)    Learn everything you can about building your business, about sales and marketing.  Learn everything you can about the work you do. 

8)    Do your inner work – clear out all the inner gunk that says you can’t do it and you don’t deserve it.  As you build a new business, you will be building a new you.  

9)    Don’t give up, tempting though it may be at times.  Dig your heels in and decide you WILL move past whatever it is that has you by the jugular today.  Period.  You will figure it out, and you WILL win!

Most of all, build your business by making a decision and sticking to that decision. 

You can move the energy that threatens to block you and hold you down by powerfully declaring to yourself and to the Universe the following:

I WILL create my amazing business! 

I AM figuring this out! 

I NOW draw to me the most amazing, perfect clients – clients who can pay me and who love doing so! 

 I AM the leader I came to be, right here, right now! 

Stand up and walk around as you say this.  Emphatically!  Powerfully!  Declaratively! 

No wussies here, ok?

You are declaring something very powerful, so say it like you mean it!

Then take action. 

And watch your Divine Client Attraction abilities transform!

Questions arise that you have to address and uncertainties arise. 

Your baby cries, and you have to figure out what’s wrong and handle it… whatever “it” is.  The first years are intense, and mind-boggling.

And then it gets easier.

Building a business is the same.  It’s time-consuming and energy intensive, and you are plagued with questions and uncertainties. 

What I know is this: if you can make sure that you give yourself the gift of self-care, humor, support from another  and of allowing yourself to not know, then you will give yourself one of the greatest gifts you can give:  balance.

I feel like my life is in overwhelm between work, children, pets, courses, and developing a business. My job is not the usual 9 – 5 and my children aren’t old enough to be self-sufficient.  And, to top it all off, my husband works a lot of hours. 

How can I create more balance in my life?

PS: I do not watch TV and I’ve cut down on social media.

Overwhelmed and Off-Balance

Dear Divine One:

Bringing balance to your life, especially when you have children, and are working or building a business (or in your case doing all three!) is essential.  Hands down, the number one thing to do here (as best you can) is practice religious self-care.  

• Sufficient sleep.  
• Plenty of water (good water).  
• Good food.  
• Lots of laughter.   
• Exercise.   
• Baths, or other yummy self-care items.  
• Meditate.
• Get a massage.
• Have someone else clean for you when you can. 

Then, remember that you are doing ALOT already.  Give yourself a break on some of the things that are filling your time.  You can’t get rid of children or the pets (or the husband – lol), and you may not be able to get rid of the job right now (or want to).  

But… how can you make certain things easier on yourself? 

Make a list of the time-sucks or energy-sucks that can be eliminated or reduced.   Rate them on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the most important, and 10 being the least.  Anything that is a 5 or below, strongly consider eliminating it.  Keep only those things which feed you, or where you have a strong value system around it. 

Make a list of the things you LOVE to do.  What feeds your soul?  What lifts you up and draws you forward?  Give them a 1-10 score.  Those that are strongest?  Keep these alive and active in your life.

ASK the Divine and your angels for help.  Ask them to go ahead of you and pave the way for you to have what you need and want: an easy, more-ordered, fun, relaxed life that is fulfilling you and allowing you to be the expression of the Divine that you feel called to be.  Many people forget this vital partner in their lives.  They forget that they can call upon their angels for support, for pre-paving and for organizing things.  Use this wonderful asset.  Frequently.

Declare your Truth.  Know that you can create what you want.  You might need to take a stand for yourself in creating it.  The Divine recognizes commitment, and conviction.  It recognizes dedication and devotion to your vision.  And you are always supported in co-creating that which is in your heart, because it was put there by God.  And because it was put there by God, the way is also made available by God.  Trust this.

Maintaining balance is essential for all spiritual entrepreneurs, especially as we transition into the work we have been called to do.  Because if we are too tired, or too overwhelmed to do our work, then we are not doing what we came to do.  If we are giving too much to one area of our life and not enough to other areas (which feed us), we will find ourselves spent easily.

So we must learn how to hold the space for balance in our lives.  And sometimes, this means painful cuts.

For it is then that we will not only birth our visions, but manifest them in their full glory!

And that, Divine One, is exactly what you came to do!

I’ve been working on my business for a few years.  I’ve invested in some training programs, and I’ve gotten good information, but somehow I still am not making the kind of money I want to make.  I’m not getting the kinds of clients I want.  

I hear all of these promises of building a 6-figure business, but I seem to be stuck in the low 5-figures.  How long does it take anyway to get to 6-figures?

Answer:  

It’s a challenge, isn’t it?  Building a 6-figure business.  Until you have developed certain skills, it can seem daunting.  The questions like “What am doing wrong?” or “Why does everyone else seem to have it all together and I’m still struggling?” can really challenge us, particularly in the first few years of building our businesses.

The answer to this question actually lies in your expectations of yourself and your expectations of the actual experience of building a business.

There are actually several stages of building a business, and the first stage is always the toughest, for lots of reasons.

Stage 1 -  Connecting Within 

I often tell my clients that this stage is one of the most challenging.  This stage of business is all about figuring things out.  Things like:

• Who am I?
• What is the transformation I provide?
• Who (and where) are my people?
• What is my message?
• What is my brand?

This stage requires a tremendous amount of courage and faith.  In my opinion, it is one of the most challenging stages of business, because it requires you to go deep within and look at yourself and your beliefs about the world, but most of all, about your value.  

It asks you to look at how deeply you are willing to be vulnerable with others, about how strong a stand you are willing to take for another, and about who you are and what you are all about.

As a spiritual business owner, you will be called to connect deeply with the Divine because in Stage 1, you must continually move from fear into faith.  (If you are not good at that, you will be by the end of this stage!)

Stage 2 – Connecting with Others 

Stage 2 is all about moving out from the “safe” inner world of looking at your beliefs and what you are creating, and begin to connect with others.  Powerfully.  Effectively.  Efficiently.  

Stage 2 allows you the opportunity to learn about how you interact with others.  Things like:

• Do you play well?  Or do you isolate when you get upset?  
• Do you care for yourself in a nurturing way?  If not, how can you change it so that you will nurture yourself?
• Do you have support in your life?  If not, why not?
• How can you create the support for your vision?
• How are you creating your reality?  
• What beliefs are creating your experiences?  How can you change them to be more empowering?

In Stage 2, you learn about receiving (or allowing) and creating support from others for your vision, and you allow yourself to move into new relationships with team members, with support personnel, and with your more intimate relationships.  

You learn how to enroll those around you into their own visions, and you learn about asking for support when you need it.  You learn how to manage your time and your resources more effectively.

Stage 3 – Connecting with the World 

Stage 3 is all about stepping into your power as a leader.  This is where you expand your platform, and you expand your business in a big way.  

This is the stage where you frequently ask yourself:  

• Am I playing small in this situation?
• Am I standing as a leader in my field?  If not, how can I do this?
• With whom can I connect to get my message out even further and how can we collaborate together?
• How can I share my message in a bigger way?

Stage 3 is the stage where you own your power.  You own your message.  You own your business and you confidently offer your services to the world.

Most business owners cross the 6-figure mark in Stage 2.  And in Stage 3, most business owners cross the multiple-6-figure (or 7-figure) mark.

If you’re just beginning your business, give yourself the gift of allowing yourself to be where you are. 

Trust your journey.  Trust the Divine.  Trust yourself.

The bottom line here is this:  

The faster you move from fear into faith in Stage 1

is the faster you will get to your 6-figure business!

I find myself feeling completely overwhelmed with all I need to do in my business.  When this happens, I end up getting bogged down and very little happens.  I lose focus and then I feel like I start spinning my wheels.

How do I get out of this place when I’m in it and also, how do I keep from going there to begin with?  Help?

Answer:  

I totally understand this emotional place.  Oftentimes, we get overwhelmed because we are trying to do too many things at once and we aren’t clear about what the priorities are.  It’s like that old saying: “How do you eat an elephant?   One bite at a time.”  (Yeah, ok, that’s gross, I get it.  But you get my point.)

Babe, you’re trying to eat the whole thing all at once!  And that’s just really hard to do.

So here’s what you can do…

1. Write projects down separately.  One project per page.
2. Create lists under each project of things that need to be done.
3. Make a decision about which project has the most pressing date.
4. Choose your project, and then decide which top 3 things need to be done first.  Decide a “by when” date.  
5. Put the date on your calendar.
6. Do this with no more than 3 projects at time.  
7. Get support to get the projects completed.

So that takes care of the practical part.  Now let’s tackle the emotional part.

Who has the energy for thinking about business?  (And should we even be thinking about business?)  

In addition to the national trauma, we’re deep into the holiday season.  Who has time to think about business?  

As a spiritual entrepreneur, you know you are here to bring transformation to the world around you.  You know you are here to hold the energetic space for others’ transformation, and you know that you cannot not do it … this calling pulls you forward in your life and in your business.

Your work doesn’t stop when those around you are in crisis.  It cannot.  One of the very reasons you are here at this time is to support others in moving through their pain.  It is one of the sacred gifts spiritual entrepreneurs have.  It is our blessing, our anointing, if you will.

Many of us know, from the deep and profound traumas in our own lives, that there is a reason for things that happen – reasons we cannot even begin to understand, particularly in the experience of the trauma itself.  But knowing that light does come again after darkness, and that joy can find its way back into our lives after incredible pain allows us to hold that space for others as they go through their dark night of the soul.  It allows us to shine the light into their darkness, and to trust in the soul’s deep wisdom to know that this is exactly where that person needs to be.

Should you do business right now – even with the tragedy and with the holiday season upon us?  Absolutely.  Your people are counting on you to continue holding that space for them.

Your work is blessed and beautiful.  It is profound and intuitive.  Be that for the world, and the world will be transformed.

Question:

I feel like I should be doing the work I’m doing, and I am building my business.  But I get stopped all the time when doubt creeps in. 

I start to do something (marketing, create something, etc.), and then I start to second-guess myself. 

I begin to wonder, really, if I’m good enough to do this work at all, that maybe I shouldn’t be trying so hard, or maybe I really don’t know what I’m doing, and so on.

Once that happens, it takes me a while to get past it and feel confident enough to get started again.

Answer:

You’re not alone.  As a matter of fact, this happens to pretty much everyone.  Until you learn to focus better on that which you desire, you will experience the results that doubt causes in your business.

It stops you. Smack in your tracks. And keeps you from moving forward.

From the moment you begin to doubt yourself, you allow the element of safety to arise. For isn’t doubt all about staying safe? About not taking risks? About being afraid of what will happen if you take a certain action?

And your business stalls. Your income stalls. Your movement stalls.

And you don’t get your gifts out into the world in the way you intend. Or the way that God intended. The way you ache to. The way you know you can. The way you know you are called to do.

Doubt is very powerful. But it doesn’t have to own you.

The more you have practiced the experience of doubt, the stronger it will be. So, please know that if you have been a strong practitioner of doubt, you now need to become a strong practitioner of faith.

If you wish to eliminate doubt from your experience then you must begin to recognize when you have choose to let it in. And then demand it leave. Your declaration and intention will remove it from your experience.

But you must recognize when it is knocking at the door. And refuse to answer.

It is up to you. (And that’s great news!)

Doubt is simply a practiced thought. Faith can be your practiced thought. The good news is: you get to choose.

On a call recently, an intuitive entrepreneur asked me this question.  It was so good, I thought I’d share it with you all. 

Question:

Sometimes I feel guided to do something, but then I can think of all the reasons why I shouldn’t.  I just can’t figure out if it’s my intuition warning me not to do what I think I feel guided to do or if it’s my ego and fear.  How can I tell the difference?

Answer:

What a fabulous question!  I hear this one all the time!  Intuitives find themselves in this situation often, especially when it comes to stepping outside their comfort zone to do something new.

It would seem it’s a conundrum.  You get the guidance to do something, but then all sorts of things happen (or all kinds of feelings arise) and you think “Well, I must have gotten that wrong!” and so you don’t take the action.

Here’s the truth:  when you feel guided to do something, do it.  Trust the guidance.  Even if it doesn’t make sense (especially to someone else).

The things that show up do so to keep you stuck where you are. 

• Because if you don’t follow your guidance, then you won’t move forward, will you? 
• If you don’t follow your guidance, you won’t take that quantum leap you know is right for you. 
• If you don’t follow your guidance, you won’t buy that special item you feel guided to buy.

If something is put upon your heart to do or get, then it is put there by the Divine.  Trust it.  Even if you don’t understand it.

• Because you don’t know with the understanding you have right now what you are going to receive from taking that action. 
• You don’t know what level of confidence you will get from following your guidance. 
• You don’t know what level of faith you are growing (that will serve you in myriad other ways) because you exercised it in this situation.

The things that show up for you are your own blocks.  They are your fears showing up in expression.  They are your “yeah, but” manifestations. 

• If you can begin to recognize the still small voice inside…
• if you can begin to fully trust the still small voice inside…
• if you can begin to totally listen to the still small voice inside…

then your life and your business will never be the same again. 

When you trust your inner guidance by following and taking action on that guidance, your ability to manifest what you want is quickly developed.

Now that’s a really great reason to trust, don’t you think?

Question:

How can I experience abundance when I have to watch every penny I spend?  I can’t afford to pay for someone to help me in my business, and I certainly can’t afford a mentor. 

I’m so tired of living like this, but I just don’t see my way out.

Answer: 

Your answer actually lies in your question.  Rather, it lies in the way in which you asked your question, and then argued for your position.

Here’s the thing: whenever we have an experience and then we back that experience up with a story, we end up recreating the story.  Over and over again.  (Especially if we feel strongly about how TRUE our story is!)

To begin with, your question is flawed.  If really want an answer, then the question actually is this: “How can I experience abundance?”  By asking this question, you are now instructing your thoughts to look for evidence of abundance you already experience in your life. 

Unfortunatly, the way you asked the question was that you asked and then told your story justifying your experience.

You declared, twice, “I can’t.”  And said “I don’t see.”  Whether you realize it or not, when you make statements such as this, you are actually giving your thoughts direction.  You are literally telling yourself that you can’t do something and that you don’t see how to do it.

And of course you can’t and won’t be able to see. 

Our words have co-creative abilities, because we are powerful co-creators with the Divine. 

When you make a declaration, you are co-creating with Universal energy. 

And this moment in time – this moment of now – is your most powerful moment of creation. 

So, begin by changing your story.  

Begin by changing your languaging. 

Begin by changing your moment of now.

Declare what it is you want, not what you don’t want.  For it is in that declaration that your powerful tomorrows (and your Divine business) are created.

She tells about how she was an unknown, untested marketer and she heard Deepak speak.  He, too, was unknown at the time. 

She knew she could “put him on the map.”  So after his speech, she walked up to him and introduced herself and, in essence, said “I want to work with you to get your work out to the world.  I think your message is powerful and the world needs to hear it.”

Deepak looked at her and said  “Yes.”  And as a result of their work together, she did indeed “put him on the map.”

She told the story years later, after the success.  She said “I couldn’t believe that he said ‘yes’ to me, an unknown.  But what I didn’t know at the time was that Deepak said ‘yes’ to everything that came his way.” 

Now you have to get the power of that story. 

Deepak said “Yes” to

EVERYTHING that came his way.

I don’t know about you, but that just boggles my mind.  Everything?  Seriously?  The lesson is so powerful and so deep, it has stayed in my mind for over a decade.

In preparing this article, I found the following, written by Deepak, which exemplifies his philosophy: 

Yes to Life

Today, I will say yes to life.

I will understand that everything is as is because the whole universe is as is.

I will not struggle against the universe by resisting what it wants.

When things don’t seem to go my way, I will let go of my idea of how things should be trusting that I do not know the “Big Picture.”

If I could see the “Big Picture,” I would see that everything is as is, because the universe is as is.

By saying “yes” to life, I will be in harmony with the elements and forces of the whole Universe.

So, let’s apply this principle to your business. 

Where are you saying “no” in your business when an opportunity shows up for you and you could be saying “yes”?

Where are you resisting the very guidance and support you have been given (and asking God for) because you don’t want to do the work, or invest the money, or to be a bigger, more powerful version of yourself?

Who and what are you resisting? 

If you have an answer that shows up for you, then just notice it.  (Don’t make yourself wrong.)  Now ask yourself “Why? Why am I resisting this?  What am I getting from resisting it?” 

Because when you resist something, there’s a reason.  You are definitely getting something from resisting.  (Staying safe and secure are usually the top reasons for saying “No.”)

Isn’t it time to lay that aside and step into who you came to be?

I say “Yes!” and I invite you to say “Yes!” too.

Yes! to yourself!

Yes! to your business!

Yes! to the Divine!

Now go get your Divine ON!

As our conversation deepened, it was clear that Renee had the makings of a really great business.  

• She was clear about whom she wanted to serve.
• She knew how she she planned on serving them.
• She had what I like to call “street cred” – life experience.
• And she had a powerful story to move her forward in the difficult times of building her business.

And when it came time for her to make a decision about moving forward, she hesitated, and then said “I really want to work with you, but I’m not quite ready.”

Oh, really?

Ever heard that one before?  (Ever use it yourself?  Um-hum, thought so.)

This is an interesting objection.  On the one hand, how can you tell someone that yes, they are ready, that their fear is having its way with them?  I mean do you really know what’s going on in their lives?

Do you really think you know better than the?  About their own lives?  Really?

Well, yes, as a matter of fact I do.

Here’s why.  There is a universal truth at play here.  And that truth supercedes everything else.  And that is this:  they wouldn’t be in front of you if they weren’t ready to work with you.  Period.

They manifested you in their lives to talk about their specific challenge they are having.  A challenge which you are uniquely ready to help them resolve.

(Tiny disclaimer here:  this assumes that you actually can resolve their challenge.  For example, someone is not going to come to me to teach them Google, right?  Or video training. Or website building. You get my point.)

Back to my soapbox…

Here’s the thing: if they could have resolved their issue by now, they would have resolved it.  They are in front of you because they themselves asked for you to be there.  Either consciously or unconsciously.

If their fear (you know, that thing that has kept them stuck all this time) continues to run the show, then they won’t be able to break through it.

And if they can’t break through their fear, then they won’t be able to create what they want to create.  (Remember, that’s why they are on the phone with you in the first place.)

• Your service is exactly what they need to break through their fear.  
• You are exactly what they need to break through their fear.
• Your timing with the conversation is exactly what they need to break through their fear.  

It is perfect Divine timing.

For them to say “no, thank you” is like praying and praying for a solution and then when the solution appears for them to say “No, I think I’ll wait a little bit more.”

Really?

To do that is to laugh in the face of the Divine.  Yet we don’t think of it like that.  But that’s what it is.

We think we are being logical, responsible people. 

Three points about this:

1. If you are guided to do something, then please trust that guidance.  Don’t logic your way out of it by trusting your fear.
2. To break through any block we have, we must step into being something very different from who we’ve been being.  To have something different, you have to be something different.
3. It is not up to you to be in control of how your help shows up.  It isn’t.  (I know you want to be, but if you’ll just trust God a little more, you’ll see that God’s ways are not your ways.  Pssst: they’re better.)

Bottom line?  Renee realized exactly what she was doing.  And in her recognition, she let go of her fear and herneed to control. She said “Yes!” – to herself, to me and to God.

And her life – and her business – will never be the same.

And for you? Here are some questions to ask yourself:

1. Where do I need to suspend control?  
2. Where do I need to recognize the powerful co-creator I am?  
3. Where do I need to recognize my own ability to manifest exactly the help I am asking for?   
4. Where do I need to recognize that I get exactly what I need, every single time?

Because when you do this, your own life – and your business – will be forever transformed.

Now go get your Divine ON!

Shortly thereafter, Sarah didn’t keep her appointment with me. And she didn’t cancel. She just didn’t show up. I was amused at the obvious connection, although I’m not sure Sarah was aware of it.

One thing I know for sure as I build my business is that there is a definite  connection between who I’m being as a client and the type of clients I attract. I’ve realized that if I want to attract a certain caliber of client, then I need to be a certain caliber of client.

Listed below are 7 ways for you to check your own level of congruence and integrity. If you are struggling with clients being out of integrity in any of these areas, then clean up your act in your own life.  You’ll be amazed at how quickly it will show up for you in your own clients’ behavior.  And you’ll be so glad you did!

1) Pay your bills on time and with a sense of gratitude for the services given.  (Don’t you want your clients to do the same?)

2) Do what you say you’ll do – when you say you’ll do it… even if it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable or (gasp!) costs you money. Be your word.

3) Take responsibility for your stuff. If you get triggered, own your crap.  Don’t go into the blame game and make it someone else’s fault. Your trigger = your stuff. Period. Look for the gold in the trigger. I promise you, it’s there.

4) Stand in your power. This means not being a victim to circumstances, to outside influences or to other people’s “shoulds.” It’s your life. It’s your business. Own it.

5) Be coachable. Turn off the “I already know that” part and open yourself  up to the wisdom and guidance of someone who has been there and moved through that.

6) Be willing to be uncomfortable. Taking risks is a normal part of growing – both personally and growing a business. You can’t have growth without movement. That would be in opposition of the Divine laws of the Universe.  They’re called “growing pains” for a reason.

7) Trust. This is a biggie. Whether it’s trusting yourself, trusting your coach or trusting the Divine, suspend your cynicism and just choose to trust. Your life and your business will transform before your very eyes.

As you incorporate these ways of being into who you are as a client, the type of clients you attract will also transform. It can be no other way. And before you know it, your client base will be filled with your perfect, ideal clients!
