How to stand out from the crowd like this Amazon Marketplace Seller!


Your business, your beautiful, glorious, spiritual business, must stand out from the crowd.  How else will your Divine peeps ever find you?  Or know you?  Or know they want to work with you?

Let me share a story that happened recently.  I love the TV show, Frasier.  For years now, I’ve wanted to own the whole wonderful series – all 11 seasons.  But each season was around $35 and I just didn’t feel like spending the money on that.  Other things were more important.

About a week ago, I mentioned to Francisco (my wonderful hubby) yet again that I wanted to get the series.  I already owned 3 seasons, but they felt so lonely without the rest!  So, I put the remaining 8 seasons into our amazon cart.  The total came to over $200.  Curious, I decided to see what would happen if I chose to get them used.  Would the price difference be significant?

It was! I went through each season and found the “Like New” versions, and bought most of them that way.  Every one of them was from a different marketplace seller.

This week, they began to arrive.  It’s been like Christmas every day I go to the mailbox!


I would open each season and get giddy just thinking about all the funny situations I’ll see with Frasier, his brother, Niles, their dad, Daphne and Roz go through.  The writing is brilliant, the comedy delicious and the situations and contortions Frasier goes through delightful.  I love seeing how Frasier’s ego and anxieties get him in such awkward situations, and how he gets out of them by having to get real and authentic. I love his dry humor, his obsessiveness, and his blustery personality.   (By the way, my set is very happy now that it is complete.)  🙂



But I digress.

Today, I got two seasons from two different sellers in the mail.  One of them just like all the others:  the season’s box put into a padded envelope and mailed.  But one of them took my breath away.

It was in a padded envelope, yes.  But inside the padded envelope was a custom-fit box, carefully taped.  And inside the custom-fit box was the season’s box.  Carefully wrapped in brown paper.  And inside the brown paper packaging was the brand-new, cellophane-wrapped set.

Aaahhh.  It was Christmas!  In August. 

Now and then someone comes along who thinks about the person receiving the order on the other end.  And they make the experience beautiful.   This Amazon marketplace seller did just that. 

Years ago, I ordered a program from someone online and it came to me all wrapped up like a gift.  And I was so impressed that I started doing that myself with the things I send out.

My Divine Diamond clients get their goodies all wrapped up, with a hand-written card.   Divine Business Club members get their angel cards in a beautiful purple silk bag, with a hand-written blessing especially for them.  People who receive my health or wealth CDs get them wrapped in beautiful purple tissue paper, with a hand-written note.

I believe that touching people’s lives with a blessing, a hand-written note, a beautifully-wrapped gift, a phone call, or some other beautiful way touches their heart in a way that is rare in this day and age.  When you do this, you touch your clients and your prospective clients in a way that will have you stand out from all the rest.

Sometimes, you have one opportunity to touch a prospective client’s life.  How are you going to do that?

There is a saying that goes “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  And it is a very, very true statement.

How can you touch your prospective clients’ lives? 

How can you show up differently from all the other healers or coaches for your clients? 

How can you show up differently, AND still be authentic to who you are and the way you want to do business?


That, Divine One, is the real question, isn’t it?

You have been called to step into your work in a powerful, authentic way.  This is one way to do just that. And it’s so easy to do!

  1. Hi Anne, great article and perfect reminder to pay attention to the details that make a difference. BTW, my favorite scene from Frasier is the one when the hot and foamy shaving cream explodes all over Frasier’s dad. Sooooo funny!! Might have to start accumulating my own set.
